About this project
Hydryx, founded by Anthonie Jacobson and Joren Tangelder, is transforming landfill management to tackle methane emissions—one of the most potent greenhouse gases. Landfills emit 1.6 gigatons of CO₂ equivalents per year, more than the entire aviation and shipping industries combined. Yet, existing landfill gas systems let more than half of that methane escape. Hydryx is fixing this with AI-powered hardware that captures more methane and channels it into green energy production. Their subscription-based model makes it easy for landfill operators to turn waste into a revenue-generating asset.
By 2030, Hydryx aims to remove 10 million tons of CO₂ equivalents, scaling across Europe and expanding into high-emission regions in Asia. Backed by CarbonFix funding, they are proving their concept at Dutch landfills before scaling internationally—because tackling methane at the source is one of the fastest ways to slow climate change.
With disruptive ideas: Anthonie and Joren are going to revolutionize landfill management to tackle one of the world’s most potent greenhouse gases: methane.
