About this project

Co-founded by Taj Heer and Philip Andrews in 2024, Sahara Blue Carbon employs Enhanced Rock Weathering (ERW) to sequester CO₂ in stable mineral forms. Using olivine and saltwater lagoons in Mauritania, they speed up natural carbonation processes, permanently locking away carbon. In addition to its environmental impact, the venture creates jobs and promotes sustainability in Western Africa. Supported by Carbonfix, Sahara Blue Carbon is a model of innovative and socio-economic climate action.
